The Tuckerton railroad served extreme south east New Jersey coastal areas from 1871 until 1940. It served Long Beach Island (known as LBI and my home for 26 years) until 1935, when a nor'easter destroyed the bridge to the island. The line was originally operated in the Barnegat, Whiting, Manahawkin areas with cooperation for passenger and freight interchanges with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
